How to Get More 5-Star Reviews on Your Vacation Rental

It’s no secret that 5-star reviews help vacation rentals book faster. But what qualities compel guests to leave them? Check out these 3 tips to help your rental receive more 5-star reviews:

1. Create a fun and unique guest experience:

Attention to detail is everything in the hospitality business. From quick communication, to an easy check-in process, to a welcome gift/basket, guests are more likely to share a great experience when they know that their host/hostess has gone above and beyond to make their stay a comfortable one!

2. Keep open communication with your guests:

No matter whether you’re local to your property or manage it remotely, keeping open and personal communication with your guests helps them feel taken care of during their stay. After a guest has booked with you, be sure to send them their check-in details 2 days prior to their trip, a message during their stay to check in on them, and a message prior to check-out to ensure they know exactly what to do. Lastly, thank your guests the day after they check out. (Here, it is appropriate to ask for a review should they choose to leave you one!)

3. Review your guests after their stay:

Reviewing guests--especially great ones who left your vacation home well cared for--further prompts them to write you a review in return. Your guest will receive a notification once you’ve reviewed them which will spark their desire to review their experience at your vacation home.

Studies show that 81% of travelers consider user reviews to be important on travel booking sites. This means that great reviews are VITAL to the vacation rental booking process.

*Tips for travelers:

Help your hosts out by providing private feedback and leaving positive reviews when applicable! Most hosts appreciate feedback and want to provide a five-star stay, but they don't always know what might be hindering them from achieving that until a guest brings it to their attention. Often, when a guest brings up concerns during their stay, the host will acknowledge and remedy them as quickly as possible.
